Bus Tour Overview
We recently held the NWRIA real estate investment bus tour (May 30, 2009). As the participants will attest, we were treated to an up close look at multiple projects. Even mother nature helped us out by giving us a glorious day. From commercial to mixed use, from multi-family to single family we looked at a range of projects and got a chance to talk to the owners on-site. The owners talked about how they acquired the properties, how they financed them, whether they were remodeling, building or even just cleaning things up. Some owners had taken on their projects by themselves and a number were based on partnerships. It was an inspirational real world trip highlighting projects that are getting done today in the greater Seattle area. We especially appreciate those owners who took time out of their busy schedule to make themselves and their projects available (Robin Rifkin, Pete Schaub, Jeremy Gustavel, Casey Bishop, John McCloud, Charlotte Chun, Kip Wassink, Kirby Reynolds & Jamie Rector). It’s a testament to our member’s willingness to share their time, experience and insights to help us all grow. If you missed this year’s tour, don’t make that mistake again next time! Also, use your membership to show up and network with your fellow members. You never know what kinds of interesting projects will show up next.

Saving Money & Making Money with an Ecommerce Business
For our June meeting we will be shaking things up with a little entrepreneurial twist. We will have Dale Koehrsen, whose last similar venture earned him $2.4 Million, joining us to talk about an ecommerce business called Shop to Earn. What does this have to do with us? We are all entrepreneurs and we want to capitalize on all of our endeavors both in Real Estate and beyond. Dale will be teaching us how to:
- Save money on the items we are already buying in both our professional and personal lives - like remodeling materials from Home Depot, office supplies from Staples, travel plans, restaurants, groceries and much more!
- Make money from an ecommerce business 24/7 that pays you for the purchases you and the others in your business are making.
Consider this:
- US online retail reached $175 billion in 2007 and is projected to grow to $335 billion by 2012. Business-to-consumer (B2C) eCommerce continues its double-digit year-over-year growth rate, in part because sales are shifting away from stores and in part because online shoppers are less sensitive to adverse economic conditions than the average US consumer (US eCommerce Forecast: 2008 To 2012 – Forrester Research)
- Early-adopting small business owners (like Liu) are the main reason Google became the fastest-growing business in history…Google made a record $21 billion in revenue in 2008 – more than 95% of it from AdWords (Fortune Small Business, May 2009).
Especially in these challenging times, we all need to explore other opportunities to bring in cash flow. Some of our members have already saved money with Shop to Earn and they can share their experiences. Further, a number of our members have already made thousands of dollars in their spare time in just their first two months in business. We all owe it to ourselves to explore the possibilities.
